On February 13, 2025, Meal to Mind: The Transformative Power of Gut Health took place in the King's Hall of ARTIS, with almost 170 attendees. Within the Amsterdam Green Campus POP-3 project, we have been working together for a year now on a detection system to determine the net yield of seed potatoes per meter.

Twenty-six companies will collaborate to build, manage, and make available collections of pathogens, pest insects/mites, and reference varieties, and develop reliable, rapid bioassays for various ornamental crops.

Even though they seemingly come from the same cold soil, all seed potatoes are different. How can a grower obtain the very best seed potatoes? That's a question a new POP-3 project, Precision Technological Development in Seed Potatoes, will address.

33% from vegetable and fruit cultivation is not consumed. These so-called residual flows from cultivation and processing are a huge waste in a world where food shortages are considered one of the biggest problems of the future. 

Without the use of crop protection products, many flowers and plants would never reach consumers. All their beauty would be lost before they even reached the store, due to damage caused by various insects, viruses, and fungi.

With financial support from Stimuflori, a research proposal led by Prof. Martijn Rep has been submitted to address fusarium (also known as bulb rot or sour rot) in tulips. Dutch companies dominate tulip breeding, cultivation, and trade worldwide.

Students of the subject Placemaking have a meeting on the theme of CO₂ organized a meeting in which they brought together key players in the area surrounding the Science Park. The meeting contributes to greater understanding and collaboration between various parties that previously had little or no knowledge of each other's existence.

During the symposium "The DNA Profile of the Soil," held on May 28, 2018, at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), a group of passionate growers affiliated with the Veldleeuwerik Foundation (Skylark Foundation) in Amsterdam Science Park returned to their classrooms.

Starting in September, businesses and government organizations will once again receive support from students in the Science and Social Sciences program. In the "Science in Practice" lecture series, students will explore scientific solutions to practical issues related to the circular economy.

On July 3, 2018, the Startup Village at Science Park hosted progress discussions on the "Systems Approach to Urban Green," a project by the Knowledge Center for Nature and Living Environment focused on green innovations.

With four research projects, including a collaboration with LEGO, the new UvA research group Industrial Sustainable Chemistry (ISC) is off to a flying start.

Fifteen plant breeding students from green AOCs across the country participated in a three-day seed breeding educational program from May 28th to 30th. The breeding roadshow offered students a varied program with presentations, workshops, company visits, and masterclasses.

While the connection between greenhouse vegetables and various knowledge institutes is strong, this is much less true for ornamental horticulture. This is worrying, as societal pressure to develop sustainable and chemical-free crops is increasing.

The City of Amsterdam, the UvA Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics, and Amsterdam Green Campus have signed a collaboration agreement.

The Position Paper "Next Level Ornamental Plant Breeding" calls for the rapid and collaborative development of new, more resilient varieties. Because without more resilient varieties, there can be no sustainable future for ornamental plant cultivation, says Thijs Simons, senior policy officer at Plantum.

On November 7, the articles of association of Amsterdam Green Campus were notarized, making it officially a foundation.

Growers are under increasing pressure to market flowers and plants without pesticide residues. Developing new, sustainable crops takes 10 to 20 years. With the use of modern breeding techniques, this time can be halved.

On Wednesday, July 19, North Holland Provincial Executive Adnan Tekin, along with six members of the Provincial Council and several officials, visited Amsterdam Green Campus.

The official opening of the Pilot Plant with sedum trays on the roof of the Benno Premsela House took place on July 7th. The opening was performed by Mr. Abdeluheb Choho, Alderman for Sustainability for the City of Amsterdam.

Claudia Rot designed the green roof of Startup Village as part of her graduation project at the University of Amsterdam. During her project, she studied local plant species and carefully selected suitable plants for the green roof. These plants shouldn't have very deep roots, for example. Claudia sees Startup Village as a place where entrepreneurs and education connect.

On Thursday, June 8, Michel Haring, professor of plant physiology at the University of Amsterdam, gave a lecture on the importance of molecular breeding for the Dutch floriculture sector during the national Greenport Holland conference. Read the column here.

With the Green Capital program, the province of North Holland aims to strengthen nature and connect society more closely with it. AGC is collaborating with the province on a program to involve young people, schools, and research institutions in and outside North Holland in this initiative.

During the AEB Circular Challenge on February 14, Amsterdam Green Campus signed a circular agreement with Exter to work on a cooperative valorization plant for the recovery of residual flows in the Zaan region.

On February 16, 2017, Amsterdam Green Campus, Ace Venture Lab (the owner of Startup Village), and Green Art Solutions signed an agreement to conduct project research in the field of "Urban Green," using the Startup Village at Amsterdam Science Park as a pilot testing and educational location.

After three years of intensive preparation, Anna's Garden and Ruigte officially opens its doors to the public on Saturday, May 20, 2017. Students from Wellant College's new Urban Green Development program will be contributing ideas for the garden's further development starting this spring. This is an example of collaboration between vocational colleges (MBO), higher professional education (HBO), and university education (UvA-IBED).

Inholland's Green Biotechnology department has launched the "Novel Breeding Tools" course at its Amsterdam Green Campus. This course provides plant breeding professionals with insight into how new molecular biology research techniques work.

The Green Education Center collaborates with Amsterdam Green Campus to address questions from the Aalsmeer region through the Agro-Plant knowledge center, ensuring they reach the right level of knowledge. This way, they work together to ensure that entrepreneurs' questions reach the right people.

Amsterdam Green Campus and Amsterdam Water Science (AWS) are joining forces to effectively unlock knowledge. AWS is an interdisciplinary research program in which the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and VU Amsterdam collaborate in the field of water science in the Netherlands.
