19 Apr Greenport Holland Conference at Amsterdam Green Campus
This year, Amsterdam Green Campus is co-organizing the Greenport Holland Conference, which focuses on Europe.
Europe and the Dutch horticultural sector have much to offer each other, both now and in the future. Horticultural products and companies offer sustainable solutions to European challenges such as maintaining the viability of cities, providing sufficient healthy and safe products, and rapidly developing better, tailor-made varieties. Europe is equally important to the Dutch horticultural sector.
For example, Dutch tomatoes, Spanish olives, and Italian carnations all face the same EU regulations; all for the same consumer. As a sector, we benefit from this, but sometimes it also comes at a cost.
Are you familiar with the opportunities Europe offers for Dutch horticulture? What are the key themes in Europe? What are the Dutch horticulture sector's responses to these challenges? And how do you, as an entrepreneur, interact with Europe? These are the key questions addressed during the conference. Member of the European Parliament and farmer Jan Huitema will update you on the importance of Europe for horticulture. Fellow entrepreneurs will discuss how Europe influences their businesses, the opportunities and obstacles it presents. Horticultural lobbyists will offer a glimpse into the center of power: Brussels.
If you'd like to catch up in one afternoon, come to the conference. Please reserve the date and time in your calendar now. Or register nowRegistration is on a first-come, first-served basis. The conference is free, but registration is mandatory. An invitation with the program will follow.
About the Greenport Holland Conference
Once a year, administrators, entrepreneurs, researchers, and lecturers from the Dutch horticultural sector meet at the Greenport Holland Conference. This year, Amsterdam Green Campus, together with Greenport Holland, Greenport Aalsmeer, and the province of North Holland, is organizing this event. May 30 from 2:30 PM takes place in the building of the UvA Faculty of Science (Science Park 904).
Greenport Holland is both the name of the Dutch horticultural cluster and the association representing the horticultural industry. As such, Greenport Holland is also a discussion partner for the Horticulture & Starting Materials top sector. Horticultural organizations representing growers, breeders, suppliers, auctions, exporters, wholesalers, and financial institutions participate in the consultations.
